Karen & Dave Camp
Karen & Dave are a fun loving couple who enjoy meeting new people and experiencing different cultures.
Dave grew up in Coromandel and lived in Coroglen for 20 years before heading to Thames as a fitter and turner. After that he moved to a career as a dairy farmer. Dave’s family going back four generations have all lived in Coromandel, so the attachment to the Peninsula is strong. He is happy to share his ‘local knowledge’ of the area with you to ensure you get to visit all the best places during your stay.
Dave also loves to fish and can often be found out on his boat or smoking his catch at the end of the day.
Karen is a descendant of a German-Bohemian family that settled in Ohaupo and Puhoi the late 1800’s and later in Thames. Kereta Bed & Breakfast was built by another of these descendants around the 1960’s. Karen’s family interests are based largely around their German- Bohemian heritage, which they celebrate by continuing the culture of music and dance. Karen plays button accordion in her family band. The family also enjoy folk dances.
When Kereta came up for sale there was no argument as to whether they wanted to move there. The house has a special connection for both Karen and Dave.
